PS- iirc, if you bring a 5 or 10 dollar toy (cannot remember which) with you to the gate you can get in to watch the race for free. _________________

K, heres a short summary of what went down.
Day 1 - On street tires. I was the first in line to go out and keep in mind the track and my tires were super cold. There was a light drizzle of mist but nothing too bad. I actually could have ran the Kumho slicks. The very first lap coming into the S's, I took a wrong line and spun out keeping the car on the track. I flat spotted two of the tires which resulted in a heavy vibration. I ran the rest of the session anyway and came in when it was over. I pulled into my spot and noticed a ticking noise from the valvetrain (aka lifter noise). I then noticed oil coming out from the car on the pass. side fender and hood. Turned the car off and opened the hood and noticed alot of oil all over the right side of the engine compartment. 2 and half quarts to be exact. Oil had shot out of the dipstick hole due to the crankcase being pressurized by the turbo. The catch can routing was wrong thanks to another mechanic that just happened to be there to witness the mess. Sooo, about 7 cans of brake cleaner, shop towels, a T-fitting, hose clamps, and two vaccum caps later, I had the problem solved within about 2 hours. I threw on the slicks for the last session and drove the hell out of the car with no other problems.
Day 2- First run was successful. Second run I had to come in for a noise violation. Danm quite hrs! 3rd run I was rescheduled to run with HPDE 1 and got a couple laps in only to find that the trans would not down shift into 4th. This slowed me down a ton considering I need my 4th gear. I found myself going into 3rd where I should have been in 4th. I pulled the car in early only to find that it wouldn't shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse. My day had ended early, so I packed up and trailered the car back to the shop.
No video was shot in the car, and I forgot to bring the camera and some other small items. Cecy did get my last run on camera, but she didn't follow me with the camera. Her camera skills will improve with confidence.. _________________ 94 (Mazdaspeed) RS-T

Sorry to hear about the tranny and PCV issues. I had some issues myself at the track this weekend, it's never fun to have to fix things in the pits. Hope you get it back out there soon. _________________ FLYRTLE - Where Boosted KLs Live

Holy Smokes!
Well, Sounds like you got to have a little fun at least this weekend. And that you have the cooling issues down.

I forgot, the last session, I had the intercooler pipe come off of the throttle body on the first day. No big deal there, i just suspected that area had a little left over oil around it.
I had fun despite all the issues. I don't have another trans. I sold my last one to Charlie. I do have a Kia trans that's dissasembled, but I need a diff for it. I was hoping for the Quaife install on that one. _________________ 94 (Mazdaspeed) RS-T
